A court in Manikganj has sentenced two individuals to death and fined each Taka 50 thousand for the murder of a youth. Judge SKM Tofayel Hasan of the Manikganj District and Session Judge Court delivered the verdict in a crowded courtroom. The convicted are Awabin Mia of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj district and Sagar Munshi of Barisal Airport upazila in Barisal district.

The victim, Sohan Mia, was a ninth-grade student and the son of Nurul Islam and Laily Begum. He drove an auto-rickshaw to support his family during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sohan went missing on July 19, 2021, and his body with a slit throat was later found on Khasher char - Dhalla road.

Laily Begum, the mother of the deceased, filed a case with Singair Police Station accusing two persons. After an investigation, Singair Police Sub-Inspector Abdul Kalam submitted a charge sheet on July 30, 2021, to the court. The court concluded the case after a lengthy hearing.
