NATOR, July 18 — Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Advocate M. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu today said that the farmer-friendly government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working for the development of agriculture and the welfare of the farmers. He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony to distribute various types of agricultural incentive inputs among the farmers at the Natore Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium here as the chief guest.

Dulu said the government is implementing a nationwide canal excavation programme to promote agricultural development. He noted that the initiative aims to modernize and improve the accessibility of irrigation facilities.

He also said that agricultural loans up to Taka 10,000 have already been waived. The Whip said the farmers have been provided with Farmer Cards to facilitate access to agricultural loans, incentive programmes and various government services. He added that the distribution of Farmer Cards is continuing across the country to ensure greater protection and support for the farmers.

Describing farmers as the main driving force of the national economy, Dulu said the country's overall development depends on improving their livelihoods. He assured that fertilizer, seeds and other agricultural inputs under the incentive programme would be distributed only among the genuine farmers, adding that there would be no irregularities or corruption as witnessed in the past.

The meeting was presided over by Natore Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Azahar Ali. Administrator of the Natore Zila Parishad Rahim Newaz attended the programme as the special guest.
