Bangladesh Agri Minister Pledges Zero Tolerance for Flood Relief Distribution Irregularities

Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has vowed a 'zero tolerance' policy on any irregularities in relief distribution for flood-affected farmers in Chattogram.

Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has said that any irregularity or corruption in the distribution of seeds and vaccines for cattle in flood-affected Chattogram will not be accepted. The government has a 'zero tolerance' policy on this issue. The minister made these remarks during a meeting with divisional and district officials at Chattogram Circuit House. He emphasized that while immediate compensation for all losses is not feasible, essential support such as seeds, fertilizers, and cattle vaccines is being provided to aid farmers' swift recovery. The minister also announced that 100% of the livestock in the flood-affected areas will receive the FMD (foot-and-mouth disease) vaccine within the next 15 days.

Government's Commitment to Fair Aid Distribution

Minister Amin Ur Rashid highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring that all aid reaches those genuinely affected. He stressed the importance of officials acting with the highest level of responsibility to prevent any form of corruption or irregularity in the relief distribution process. The minister noted that the flood has caused colossal destruction in the region, making it crucial for the government and society to support the affected individuals to help them rebound.

Swift Action for Livestock Health

Concerning the health protection of livestock, the minister assured that the government is taking swift action. Within the next 15 days, 100% of the livestock in the flood-affected areas will be vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease. This initiative aims to prevent further losses and ensure the well-being of the animals, which are vital for the livelihoods of many farmers in the region.
