Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam today inaugurated the 'One Child, One Tree' programme at Nabagram Government Primary School in Manikganj Sadar. The initiative aims to encourage environmental awareness among children and promote tree plantation as a shared responsibility towards protecting nature.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Afroza emphasized that the programme is about instilling environmental responsibility in the younger generation. She stated, 'Planting a tree is not merely the act of planting a sapling. It is a pledge, a responsibility and a gift to future generations.'
The minister highlighted the government's commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, to building a modern, green, and liveable Bangladesh. She noted that development is meaningful only when nature is protected and people are conscious of their responsibilities.
Following her address, Afroza formally inaugurated the programme by planting a tree alongside officials and participants. The event was organized by the Manikganj Sadar upazila administration and attended by district and upazila officials as well as local dignitaries.
The 'One Child, One Tree' programme signifies a step towards fostering a greener and more environmentally conscious Bangladesh for future generations.
