State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today underscored the importance of expanding Bangladesh-Algeria cooperation in recruiting skilled and semi-skilled workers and welcomed efforts to establish a Joint Consultative Commission. She made the remarks when Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdelouahab Saidani paid a courtesy call on her at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and growing partnership between Bangladesh and Algeria and discussed ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors.

The state minister requested the Algerian envoy to enhance collaboration in the energy sector to help ensure Bangladesh's long-term energy security.
