# Saudi Authorities Detain Over 7,700 Illegal Immigrants in Week-Long Operation

Saudi security forces have arrested a total of 7,760 illegal residents in a special operation from May 28 to June 3. The operation was coordinated by relevant government agencies. The Ministry of Interior announced the number of arrests last Saturday.

Among those arrested, 4,060 violated residency or iqama laws, 2,574 breached border security laws, and 1,126 violated labor laws.

1,184 individuals were arrested while attempting to illegally cross the border into Saudi Arabia. Of these, 70% were Ethiopian citizens, 28% were Yemeni citizens, and the remaining 2% were from other countries. Additionally, 25 individuals were arrested while attempting to leave the country illegally.

Saudi Arabia has already deported 4,690 illegal residents. 14,495 individuals have been sent to their respective embassies to collect travel documents, and 850 more are awaiting finalization of their flight tickets.

Currently, legal proceedings are underway against 21,774 expatriates, including 20,455 men and 1,319 women.

16 individuals have been arrested for allegedly providing transportation, shelter, and employment to illegal immigrants.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior stated that assisting illegal entry or providing shelter and transportation could result in up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to 1 million Saudi riyals, and confiscation of vehicles and properties used in the crime.

The ministry urged the public to report any irregularities. Residents of Mecca, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province are asked to call 911, while residents of other regions should call 999 or 996.
