# Bangladesh and IOM Highlight Safe Migration to Boost Women's Overseas Employment

Bangladesh is emphasizing the need for safe and dignified migration to enhance overseas employment opportunities for women. Prime Minister’s Adviser on education, primary and mass education Mahdi Amin highlighted this during a meeting with a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The meeting focused on strengthening migration management, expanding safe labor migration opportunities, and ensuring greater protection for migrants.

## Expanding Opportunities and Protection

In the meeting, both sides discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation to further strengthen migration management in Bangladesh. They explored ways to expand opportunities for safe labor migration and ensure greater protection for migrants. Mahdi Amin stressed the importance of exploring new overseas labor markets, particularly in the Middle East and other emerging international destinations.

## Technological and Technical Support

The IOM delegation briefed the adviser on the organization's ongoing activities in Bangladesh and expressed interest in expanding technical and technological support for the government's migration-related initiatives. The delegation assured continued cooperation in improving migration management, providing modern services for migrant workers, and supporting the implementation of government initiatives in the sector. The meeting also reviewed the preparations for the launch of Bangladesh’s National Action Plan under the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), which is being implemented in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh.
