A Bangladesh delegation, led by Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, has joined the two-day 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad, Pakistan. The conference, which began on July 12 and concludes today, sees participation from ministerial level representatives of OIC member states.

## Delegation Details and Participation

The Bangladesh delegation included Women and Children Affairs Secretary Yasmeen Parveen and the minister's Private Secretary Dr Md Mahmudul Haque. Additionally, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Md Iqbal Hussain Khan joined the conference. The event aims to foster cooperation among OIC member states in promoting women's development and empowerment.

## Sidelines Meeting with Iranian Vice President

On the sidelines of the conference, Minister AZM Zahid Hossain held a meeting with Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Zahra Behrouz Azar. The meeting, attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan Md Iqbal Hussain Khan and Iran's Deputy Head of Mission Nabi Ollah Shirazi, focused on mutual cooperation among the Islamic Ummah in building an inclusive and humane society.

## Discussions on Women's Development

During the meeting, Minister Zahid Hossain highlighted the development and progress of women in Bangladesh, specifically mentioning the recently launched Family Card for women's development. He called for increased cooperation between Bangladesh and Iran in education, health, women's and children's welfare, and social development.

## Iranian Vice President's Appreciation

The Iranian Vice President expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the participation of the delegation led by Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad in the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. She mentioned Bangladesh as a role model in women's development and highly appreciated the steps taken by the Bangladesh government.

## Future Cooperation and Invitations

Zahra Behrouz Azar specifically mentioned the progress of Iranian women in education and expressed the intention of the Muslim Ummah to work together for women's development. She invited Minister Zahid Hossain to visit Iran, signaling a potential strengthening of bilateral ties in women's empowerment initiatives.
