Mir Shakrul Alam, elected unopposed as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) from the Rajshahi Division, resigned the day after his election. Shakrul, son of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives State Minister Mir Shahe Alam MP, cited business commitments as the reason for his resignation. He submitted his resignation to the BCB president, stating that his family's businesses, now under his management due to his father's ministerial role, prevent him from fulfilling his duties as a BCB director.

Shakrul explained to Prothom Alo that his father's position in the government has increased his responsibilities in managing the family business, making it difficult for him to dedicate time to the BCB. He emphasized the honor of being associated with such an important institution but highlighted the practical challenges he faces. The BCB election, held according to the constitution, saw 10 directors elected from district and divisional sports organizations, 12 from clubs, and one from universities and various organizations, along with two nominated by the NSC. Tamim Iqbal, former captain of the national team, was elected as the BCB president by the 25-member board.
