New York City has renamed two street intersections in honor of football legends Pelé and Thierry Henry. The renaming coincides with the upcoming FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In Manhattan's Downtown, the intersection of West Fifty Street and Sixth Avenue is now 'Thierry Henry Way'. In Queens, the intersection of Shea Road and Meridian Road is named after Pelé. The new street signs will be in place until November 1.

Thierry Henry, who played for the New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014, joined the unveiling ceremony via video call. Pelé, a three-time World Cup winner with Brazil, played for the New York Cosmos from 1975 to 1977.
