# State Minister Aminul Haque Promotes Sports as a Solution to Drug Abuse

At the Jhenaidah District Council Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque emphasized the government's commitment to fostering a drug-free and healthy society through sports. Speaking as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony, Haque stated that sports should be viewed not just as entertainment but as a viable career path for the youth. He believes this approach will help steer young people away from drug abuse and social decay.

The minister stressed the importance of restoring ethical, moral, and social values through sports. He called for a united effort, regardless of political affiliations, to achieve this goal. Aminul Haque also outlined plans to develop athletes from grassroots levels by identifying and nurturing talents among adolescents. Initiatives include establishing sports as a profession and creating one playground in each of the country's 4,599 unions.

Furthermore, Haque mentioned that the government is constructing international standard sports villages in 10 districts, with one planned for Jhenaidah. The existing stadium in Jhenaidah will be transformed into a modern facility. Additionally, efforts are underway to build a swimming pool in each of the 64 districts, starting with the current 22 pools in 22 districts. This expansion aims to provide accessible sports infrastructure nationwide.

Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Prime Minister's Political Assistant Md Rashed Khan, and Jhenaidah District BNP General Secretary Md Zahiduzzaman Mona were among those who spoke at the event. Jhenaidah District Council Administrator and District BNP President Md Abdul Majid presided over the ceremony.
