The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will implement extensive security measures for the upcoming Ratha Yatra festival, one of the capital's largest religious processions. Thousands of worshippers are expected to join the processions across the city on July 16 and July 24.

At a coordination meeting, DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed announced that police personnel would be deployed along procession routes, supported by CCTV surveillance, foot patrols, rooftop observation teams, mobile patrol units, detectives in plain clothes, SWAT personnel, bomb disposal teams, and traffic police.

## Coordination and Safety Measures

Officials and festival organisers agreed that the processions would follow designated routes and be completed within scheduled times to minimise disruption. Organisers have been asked to deploy volunteers, discourage participants from carrying bags or large packages, avoid using loudspeakers during Muslim prayer times, and immediately report any suspicious person or object to police.

The Ratha Yatra is a significant religious event for the Hindu community, drawing thousands of devotees. The festival involves the procession of deities on elaborately decorated chariots, marking an important cultural and religious occasion in Dhaka.

Representatives from intelligence agencies, the Fire Service, Dhaka South City Corporation, and the Ratha Yatra organising committee attended the meeting, where the DMP presented its overall security and traffic management plan. The comprehensive security measures aim to provide a safe environment for all participants and spectators.
