# Law Minister Vows to Prevent Party Members from Receiving Benefits That Tarnish Govt's Image

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman today said no party syndicate would be allowed in government offices or development projects, asserting that no BNP leader or activist would receive any undue benefit that could tarnish the government's image.

"We (BNP) are in power, so naturally our leaders and activists will receive benefits. But we will not provide any benefit that brings disrepute to the government," he said while addressing a meeting of the Hospital Management Committee at the auditorium of Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex as the chief guest this morning.

## Warning Against Extortion and Abuse of Influence

The minister warned that extortion or abuse of political influence would not be tolerated, saying an individual might gain personally through such acts, but the government would not accept the stigma they create.

Referring to a recent incident in Barishal, he said a person had allegedly forced officials to sign a cheque by using a party identity. "We did not let the matter pass overnight. That person has been brought under the law," he added.

## Commitment to Improved Healthcare Services

Asaduzzaman said anyone committing a crime would be treated as a criminal, regardless of his position in the party. He also warned against attempts to exploit the political change for personal gain. "If anyone thinks that the Awami League engaged in looting and they can simply replace its vacant place, they are living in a fool's paradise," he said.

Urging party leaders and activists not to harbour such misconceptions, the minister reiterated that the government would not extend any benefit that could damage either the government's or the party's image. "No activity by any party leader or activist that brings disrepute to the party will be tolerated," he added.

Highlighting plans to improve healthcare services, the minister said the 50-bed Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex would be expanded. "We are trying to increase the number of beds. Besides, we are taking several initiatives to ensure improved healthcare services at the hospital. We are committed to ensuring better healthcare for the people of this area," he said.
