# 8 Student Leaders Sued Over Nasiruddin Attack in Jhenaidah

Eight leaders of the Jhenaidah district student organization, including the president and general secretary, have been named in a lawsuit following an attack on Nasiruddin Patwari, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP). The incident occurred on Friday night at Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station. The lawsuit also names 110 to 115 unidentified individuals as defendants. The case was filed by NCP leader Tareq Reza. The defendants include Jhenaidah district student organization president Imran Hossain, former president SM Sominuzzaman Somin, general secretary Shahriar Russel, former vice-president Nayon Howladar, Islamic University branch student organization convener Sahed Ahmed, municipal student organization vice-president Mobarak Hossain, municipal student organization leader Hadu, and Arafat Hossain.

In protest of the lawsuit, student organization leaders and activists held a rally in the city around 9 PM. The procession, which moved through various roads, reached Sadar Police Station, where tensions arose. The protesters demanded the release of Nasiruddin, who was inside the police station. During the protest, some individuals attempted to throw bricks and stones. The leaders and activists later gathered at Paira Chattar in the city, where senior student organization leaders addressed the crowd.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, an attack and egg-throwing incident occurred on Nasiruddin Patwari and five members of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the student organization as they were leaving the old Collectorate Jame Mosque in Jhenaidah city after Friday prayers. The incident has caused tension in the city.
