Khelafat Majlis today announced its departure from the 11-party alliance, citing the end of the parliamentary election in February as the reason. The party stated that with the conclusion of the elections, the effectiveness of the alliance has come to an end. "As there is no post-election effectiveness of the 11-party electoral alliance, the party (Khelafat Majlis) will refrain from all activities and programmes of the alliance from now," a release of the party said. The decision was made at a meeting of the Khelafat Majlis's Central Majlis-e-Shura held at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Dhaka. The resolution adopted at the meeting clarified that the 11-party alliance was primarily an electoral understanding.

Despite leaving the alliance, Khelafat Majlis emphasized that efforts to build a broader national unity will continue if required for the interest of the country, nation, and Islam. The party's Member of Parliament will continue to play a role as an opposition member in Parliament.

The session, which began at 9 am, was presided over by Khelafat Majlis Amir Maulana Abdul Basit Azad and conducted by the party's Secretary General Dr Ahmad Abdul Kader. The party's release highlighted that the decision to leave the alliance was driven by the practical end of the alliance's purpose following the elections.

The 11-party alliance, formed ahead of the elections, aimed to consolidate opposition forces. However, with the elections concluded, Khelafat Majlis believes the alliance no longer serves a purpose. The party's move indicates a shift in strategy post-election, focusing instead on broader national unity efforts.

This development comes as a significant change in the political landscape, potentially impacting future coalitions and alliances. Khelafat Majlis's decision to withdraw suggests a reevaluation of political strategies in the post-election environment.
