Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, highlighted that the July mass uprising aimed to establish a society free from discrimination, based on justice and fairness, and to liberate the nation from violence and anarchy.

Speaking as the chief guest at a public rally organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka North Metropolitan's Mirpur Zone, Rahman stated that the July movement came like a cyclone, sweeping away what he described as a fascist regime.

He noted that the present government and parliament emerged through the July movement. Rahman demanded that those responsible for the July killings be brought to justice.

He urged the government to ensure proper medical treatment for those injured or permanently disabled during the movement and to provide them with the means to live with dignity. The rally was chaired by Mohammad Selim Uddin, member of the party's Central Executive Council and Ameer of Dhaka North Metropolitan.

The significance of the July uprising for Bangladesh lies in its aspiration to create a society grounded in justice, fairness, and freedom from violence and discrimination.
