# Home Minister Highlights Importance of Police Reform and Building Public Trust

In a significant address at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stressed the importance of the police force transforming into a humane entity, free from political influence. Speaking at the closing parade of the six-month basic training for probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police, Ahmed highlighted that the police must adopt modern technology to combat digital crime and ensure cybersecurity. He urged officers to build genuine relationships with the community, emphasizing that they should be seen as friends and servants of the people.

The training, which began on February 1, 2026, marked the completion of the first phase of the 27th BCS (Police) batch. During the event, 58 probationary officers completed their training and began their professional careers. The Home Minister, taking the salute at the parade, also distributed awards to trainees who excelled in various categories.

Among the awardees, Dr. Md. Nurul Huda Bhuiyan was recognized as the 'Best Probationer' and 'Best in Field Activities'. Abu Numan Mohammad Khairul Islam received the 'Best Academic Award', and A B M Mamun was selected as the 'Best Shooter'. The event was attended by Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, Inspector General of Police Ali Hossain Fakir, and other senior police officials.

Ahmed's address underscored the need for police to be vigilant and ensure that citizens do not face harassment when seeking services. He also called on the police to work sincerely to meet the new expectations created by the recent mass uprisings by students and the public.

This training completion event not only highlighted the advancements in police skills but also set the stage for a new approach in policing, emphasizing a more humane and technologically equipped force.
