Asif Mahmud, spokesperson for the National Citizen Party (NCP), has warned of escalating violence if the attackers of Nasiruddin Patwari, the chief coordinator of the NCP in Jhenaidah, are not arrested by Friday night. Speaking at an event in Dhaka, Mahmud stated, 'If they are not arrested, if you choose violence, we will be forced to choose violence as well.'

Mahmud accused the ruling BNP government of failing to govern and resorting to violence as a political tool. He referenced the July uprising, claiming, 'If the government wants violence, no one can match us. We have shown this in the 2024 mass uprising.'

He criticized the government for its failure to ensure security and protect citizens, particularly women. Mahmud also questioned the effectiveness of the Home Minister, suggesting that the current state of governance could lead to public uprisings against the government.
