The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued a warning about a fraudulent scheme collecting money under the pretext of securing jobs in the income tax department. In a press release on Monday (June 1, 2026), the NBR informed that some fraudulent groups are attempting to deceive people by promising job placements in the tax department.

The NBR stated that the ongoing recruitment process for vacant positions in the tax department is being conducted transparently and in accordance with legal procedures. A committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Public Administration, the Internal Resources Division, the Public Service Commission, and the Income Tax Department is responsible for selecting qualified candidates.

The NBR urged the public to report any information about such fraudulent activities to the concerned tax commissioner's office or the NBR's public relations officer at telephone number 02-22221777 or email [email protected]. The NBR also advised job seekers and their guardians to be cautious and not fall into the trap of such scams.
