Bangladesh and Kosovo have agreed to explore a government-to-government (G2G) mechanism for the transparent and orderly recruitment of Bangladeshi workers in Kosovo, addressing the increasing demand for labor mobility. This agreement was reached during the second Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) held in Prishtina on August 14, 2026, led by Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry's Secretary (Bilateral-East & West) Dr. M. Nazrul Islam and Kosovo's Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Ilir Muçaj.

## Bilateral Consultations and Labor Mobility

The discussions highlighted the importance of establishing a structured framework for the recruitment and employment of Bangladeshi workers in Kosovo. Both sides stressed the need for labor migration to be transparent, orderly, and mutually beneficial. They committed to exploring G2G cooperation mechanisms to achieve these goals. The consultations also reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, expressing satisfaction with the progress made since the establishment of diplomatic ties.

The two countries identified significant untapped potential for cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, education, agriculture, information and communication technology, tourism, and labor mobility. Both sides emphasized the early conclusion of agreements under negotiation, particularly those related to economic cooperation and the avoidance of double taxation.

## Mutual Appreciation and Support

Kosovo appreciated Bangladesh's longstanding contribution to UN peacekeeping operations and expressed gratitude to Bangladeshi peacekeepers who served in Kosovo. Bangladesh, in turn, welcomed Kosovo's growing participation in international and regional organizations and expressed support for its continued integration into international and multilateral mechanisms.

Kosovo commended Bangladesh's humanitarian response to the Rohingya crisis and backed Dhaka's efforts to ensure the safe, voluntary, dignified, and sustainable repatriation of forcibly displaced Rohingyas to Myanmar. Both sides also reaffirmed their opposition to terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational crime, agreeing to strengthen coordination in regional and international forums.

The two countries agreed to hold their third Foreign Office Consultations in Dhaka in 2027.
