The government is introducing a 100-bed accommodation facility at the Hajj Camp in Ashkona to provide emergency lodging for overseas-bound migrant workers. This initiative, announced by Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, aims to alleviate the hardships faced by workers during flight delays or cancellations. The facility, to be financed by the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, will include 50 beds for men and 50 for women.

## Addressing Migrant Worker Needs

Minister Chowdhury highlighted the government's commitment to expanding services for expatriate workers. He noted that the current Wage Earners' Centre can accommodate 49 people, but the new facility at the Hajj Camp will significantly enhance support for those affected by unforeseen circumstances such as conflicts, adverse weather, or other issues leading to flight disruptions.

## Government's Migrant-Friendly Policies

The project is being implemented following a directive from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and a proposal from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The Hajj Camp, located near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, is expected to reduce the accommodation problems faced by migrant workers during emergencies. Senior officials from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Religious Affairs were present during the minister's visit to the Hajj Camp.
