In a significant step towards enhancing cancer treatment services in Bangladesh, the Institute of Nuclear Medical Physics (INMP) and the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. The agreement aims to make cancer treatment more accessible, improve patient care, and expand cancer treatment services nationwide. The MoU was signed at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Dhaka.

Under the agreement, INMP and NICRH will collaborate in various areas including cancer patient management, radiation oncology, medical physics, quality assurance, research, education, training, and technological development. This partnership is expected to address the long waiting periods that cancer patients often face at NICRH, which can delay treatment and affect its effectiveness.

Through this collaboration, INMP will provide modern cancer treatment services alongside NICRH, helping to reduce patient pressure on the hospital and shorten waiting times. The signing ceremony was attended by Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain as the chief guest, along with other senior officials from both institutions and government departments.

NICRH Director Dr. Mostafa Aziz Suman and INMP Director Md. Selim Reza signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. The event also saw the presence of Health Services Division Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, Science and Technology Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Moinul Islam, and other senior officials.

This partnership is a crucial step towards improving cancer care in Bangladesh, where the demand for quality cancer treatment services often exceeds the available resources. By leveraging the expertise and resources of both INMP and NICRH, the collaboration aims to provide better and more timely care for cancer patients across the country.
