In a recent enforcement action, the Health Department has temporarily closed two private hospitals and two laboratory units in Cumilla. Prime Hospital and Delta Hospital were both ordered to close after inspections revealed significant compliance issues. The inspection team also closed the laboratory units of Evergreen Hospital and Mission Hospital for conducting unauthorized diagnostic tests.

The inspections were conducted by Medical Officers Shafiqul Islam and Osman Hossain Jabir from the Cumilla Civil Surgeon's Office. They meticulously examined the registration documents, diagnostic services approvals, patient wards, pathology laboratories, operation theaters, and other healthcare services of the four facilities.

Medical Officer Jabir highlighted that Prime Hospital had changed its address without obtaining necessary approvals, while Delta Hospital failed to provide required registration documents. Consequently, both hospitals were ordered to remain closed temporarily. On the other hand, the lab units of Mission Hospital and Evergreen Hospital were shut down due to evidence of unauthorized diagnostic tests.

Medical Officer Shafiqul Islam emphasized the importance of cooperation from doctors working at inspected hospitals. He advised physicians to ensure that healthcare facilities possess all required legal approvals before starting practice there. The Health Department aims to maintain high standards of healthcare service delivery across the district.

The recent closures reflect the Health Department's commitment to enforcing regulatory compliance within the healthcare sector. By taking decisive action against non-compliant facilities, the department aims to safeguard public health and ensure that all healthcare services meet necessary standards.
