Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain announced that the government will launch a nationwide door-to-door health screening program. The initiative aims to detect diseases at an early stage among the general population, ensuring that every citizen has access to healthcare services. The program will involve recruiting 100,000 health workers, 80 percent of whom will be women, to visit households and conduct basic health examinations.

## Program Details

Health workers will carry a special medical kit and provide services such as measuring blood pressure, checking body weight, screening for diabetes, conducting lipid profile tests, and performing various other basic health examinations at people's homes. Female health workers will also teach women how to conduct breast and cervical cancer self-examinations.

## Minister's Remarks

Sakhawat emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for staying healthy. He also expressed concern over the increasing number of cesarean section deliveries and the decline in breastfeeding, warning that these trends are pushing many children toward severe malnutrition.

The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of Hygiene for Health Bangladesh at Gulshan Lake Park. Notable attendees included Miss World Bangladesh 2026 title winner Samanjar Sayeed, Gulshan Society president Omar Sadat, National Director of Miss World Bangladesh Azra Mahmud, Executive Director of Manusher Jonno Foundation Shaheen Anam, and General Secretary of the Gulshan Society Mujibur Rahman Mridha.
