# Ad-Din Hospital's License Revoked Following Investigation into Six Newborn Deaths

The Health Department has canceled the license of Ad-Din Hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, following the deaths of six newborns. The decision was announced in a notification signed by Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr. Abu Hosen Mo. Moinul Ahasan on behalf of the Director General of the Health Department.

Prior to this, the Health Ministry had formed an investigation committee to determine the cause of the incident. The committee reported evidence of negligence by the hospital authorities.

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Eid, when six newborns died in the post-delivery ward of Ad-Din Hospital. This led to widespread outrage across the country.

Based on the investigation committee's report, the Health Department issued a notice to Ad-Din Hospital on June 4, giving them until June 7 to respond. The hospital authorities requested an extension, which was granted until June 9 at 5 PM.

The Health Department stated that the response and explanation provided by the hospital authorities on June 9 were not satisfactory. Consequently, the hospital's license was canceled under the provisions of the 1982 'Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance'.

However, the hospital authorities still have the opportunity to appeal legally. The Health Department noted that under Section 12 of the 1982 Ordinance, the hospital authorities can appeal the license cancellation order within 30 days.
