The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has revised the 2023 National Film Awards following controversy over the initial announcement. The revised notification, issued on Tuesday, includes changes in the Lifetime Achievement and Best Screenplay categories.

According to ministry sources, allegations arose that the judges' recommendations were overlooked in several categories, particularly in Lifetime Achievement and Best Screenplay. The ministry reviewed the matter and initiated a re-evaluation process.

Significant changes have been made in the Lifetime Achievement category. Initially, filmmakers Tareque Masud and Abdul Latif Bachchu were announced as recipients. However, as both are deceased, they will now receive posthumous awards. Actors Shabana and film editor Fazle Haq will jointly receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Changes have also been made in the Best Screenplay category. Initially, Niamul Mukta was announced for 'Roktojoba'. However, allegations surfaced that he did not write the screenplay. After review, Tasnim Ul Hasan has been announced as the recipient in this category.
