Starting today, Wednesday, four Bangladeshi filmmakers and producers will present their documentary projects at the Sheffield DocFest, the UK's largest and most influential documentary festival and market. The creators will showcase their projects under the 'New Stories, Emerging Authors: Showcase of Work in Progress from Bangladesh' event. They will also screen segments of their completed documentaries.

Director and producer Piplu R Khan will present 'Nomads of the North', currently in production. Kazi Arefin Ahmed will showcase 'Opeksha', Tayran Rajjak will present 'Mantra of the Mangroves', and Makbul Chowdhury will exhibit 'Mashab', all of which are ongoing projects.

Piplu R Khan stated, 'At Sheffield DocFest, we will present our documentary to producers, distributors, and sales agents. This is a significant event for South Asian creators. We aim to bring our documentary to a larger audience through this platform.'

Held annually in Sheffield, England, the festival brings together documentary creators, producers, distributors, broadcasters, and audiences from around the world. In addition to documentaries, the festival features various documentary works in television, podcasts, immersive media, and art. The 2026 edition includes 104 films from around the world and runs until June 15. The Bangladeshi creators are participating with the support of Dhaka DocLab and the British Council.
