Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister, announced that the admission process for students at Thakurgaon Medical College will officially begin next year. He confirmed that the construction of the proposed medical college will commence within the next few months.

Speaking at the inauguration of an eye camp in collaboration with Nepal, held at Thakurgaon Diabetic and Healthcare Hospital, Mirza Fakhrul emphasized the government's commitment to improving healthcare accessibility for the region's poor population, many of whom cannot travel to Dhaka for treatment.
