# Rangpur Rally Urges Enhanced Reading Habits for a Knowledge-Based Society

At a divisional-level readers' rally in Rangpur, officials and literary figures called for the development of reading habits among all citizens to build a knowledge-based, conscious, and humane society. The event was organized by the Public Library Directorate in collaboration with the World Literature Center, under the initiative of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Nationwide Mobile Library Project.

## Importance of Reading Highlighted

Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, who was the chief guest, emphasized that books are essential for building an enlightened and conscious society. He stressed the need for combined efforts from families, educational institutions, and society to make the new generation book-oriented. He encouraged guardians to promote reading among young children to protect their future and reduce mobile phone addiction.

## Call for Regular Reading and Cultural Activities

The Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Ruhul Amin, noted that the habit of reading is declining due to the prevalence of digital platforms. He highlighted the role of books in enriching thinking, increasing attention, and reducing loneliness. He called for regular library visits to develop creative talent, acquire knowledge, and form cultural values. The event included a mobile book fair and cultural performances, with prizes distributed to competition winners.
