The government has appointed Professor Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as the fourth Pro-Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university. Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering with distinction from BUET in 1997. He began his academic career as a lecturer at the university the same year. He was promoted through different academic ranks and became a professor in 2013. Currently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BUET and is also the Director of the Research and Innovation Center for Science and Engineering (RISE).
