# Prime Minister Orders Nationalization of Tindu Junior Secondary School in Bandarban

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has asked the education ministry to nationalize Tindu Junior Secondary School, located in the remote Tindu area of Thanchi upazila in Bandarban district. Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced this in Jatiya Sangsad during the general discussion on the proposed national budget for FY27, stating that the ministry has taken necessary action following the Prime Minister’s instruction.

## Head Teacher's Extraordinary Efforts

Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon revealed that a social media report highlighting the efforts of the school’s head teacher, Bamong Khiang Minglen, caught the Prime Minister’s attention. Minglen has been operating a motorized boat to earn money, with a significant portion of his earnings used to pay teachers’ salaries. During March and April alone, he earned Taka 40,000, out of which Taka 30,000 was spent on salaries.

## Challenges in Remote Hilly Region

Sustaining a school in such a remote and hilly region is a major challenge. Tindu Junior Secondary School, established in 2020, currently has 56 students. Most of their families are financially disadvantaged, making it difficult to pay tuition fees regularly. This financial strain has made it extremely hard to pay the salaries of teachers and staff.

## Minister's Announcement in Parliament

While delivering his budget speech in Jatiya Sangsad, the Education Minister said, “The Hon’ble Prime Minister has sent me a note directing that the school in Tindu area of Thanchi be nationalised. He has sent this instruction to the House today.” He assured the House that the school will be nationalized soon.
