# Government Announces Introduction of Four New Subjects in Primary and Secondary Education

The government is set to introduce four new subjects in primary and secondary education from the next academic year (2027). Two subjects will be mandatory from Class 4, and two more from Class 6. The government also announced plans to implement a new curriculum from 2028. These details were shared at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday to highlight various initiatives under the government's 180-day program on education. Education Minister and the Prime Minister's Advisor on Education shared these plans. The new subjects include sports, culture, technical and vocational education, and 'Learning with Happiness'. The latter will also focus on instilling moral values and training teachers. The government is also planning to introduce a third language for students. The new curriculum will be implemented from 2028, with the outline expected to be finalized soon. The dates for the 2026 SSC and equivalent exams have been announced, with results to be published on July 20. The 2027 SSC and equivalent exams will start on January 7 and end on February 6. The HSC and equivalent exams for 2027 will begin on June 6 and conclude on July 13.
