Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail has achieved an 'A' position in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking for the first time. The ranking evaluates universities worldwide based on their contributions to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). MBSTU was placed in the 1001-1500 band globally and secured third place among nine public universities in Bangladesh. The university also recorded notable success in several individual SDG categories.

## Significant Achievements in SDG Categories

In the SDG-4 (Quality Education) category, MBSTU ranked in the 301-400 band, placing third among public universities in Bangladesh with a score of 63. It was also ranked in the 601-800 band for SDG-3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG-9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), while achieving a 401-600 band position in SDG-11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

## Demographics and Faculty Ratio

The ranking revealed that 41 percent of MBSTU's students are female and 59 percent male, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 17.1. This demographic balance and faculty ratio contribute to a conducive learning environment.

## Consistent Performance in International Rankings

MBSTU has consistently performed well in international higher education rankings. In the World University Ranking 2026, it was placed in the 1201-1500 band and ranked 746th globally in research quality. In the QS Asia Ranking 2025, MBSTU secured the 851-900 band, ranking 137th in Asia for citation papers and second in Bangladesh for research papers per faculty. Additionally, in the Scimago Institutions Ranking 2026, MBSTU ranked first among 47 listed universities in Bangladesh, 1930th globally and 904th in the social hierarchy index.

Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam stated that securing an 'A' position in the Impact Ranking 2026 is a matter of great pride and inspiration for MBSTU. He emphasized that this success is the result of the collective efforts of teachers, students, officials, staff, researchers, alumni, and all stakeholders. The university's initiatives in education, research, innovation, social responsibility, and sustainable development have received international recognition.
