# KUET and Portugal’s IST Unite to Enhance Academic and Research Collaborations

In a significant step towards international academic collaboration, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and Portugal's Institute Superior Técnico (IST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony held in Khulna. The agreement aims to deepen cooperation in education, research, and international academic activities, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership between the two institutions.

The MoU was officially signed by KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud and IST President Prof Rogério Colaço, marking a commitment to collaborative efforts. The signing ceremony was a grand event, attended by a multitude of KUET's faculty, administrative officials, and students, as well as representatives from IST. The event was moderated by IQAC Deputy Director Prof Dr Md Rizvi Kaiser, with speeches from KUET Registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, Professor Dr Mohammad Ariful Islam, and Prof Dr S M Sohel Morshed from IST.

Under the terms of the MoU, students, faculty, and officials from both KUET and IST will have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs, engage in joint research initiatives, co-supervise master’s and doctoral theses, and organize research meetings and conferences. The agreement also facilitates the exchange of scientific equipment, publications, and academic information across various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and architecture.

The MoU is expected to open new avenues for knowledge sharing and collaboration, enhancing the academic profiles of both institutions. By establishing these connections, KUET aims to expand its global footprint and provide its students and faculty with international exposure and research opportunities. The partnership with IST is seen as a strategic move to elevate KUET’s standing in the global academic community.
