Semanta Chowdhury, a student of Khulna University's Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Discipline, has secured first place in the National Essay Competition 2026. Organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the competition saw Chowdhury's essay, titled 'The Fourth Industrial Revolution (AI and IT) and May Day: Worker Protection and Challenges in a Changing World,' emerge as the winner. His winning piece has been published in an official Ministry of Labour and Employment publication.

## Award Ceremony

Chowdhury received his award at a ceremony held at the Labour Building in Bijoynagar, Dhaka. Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser Ariful Haque Chowdhury presented Semanta with a crest, certificate, and prize. The event was attended by senior government officials, academics, and invited guests.

## University Recognition

Khulna University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim congratulated Chowdhury on his achievement. He stated that this accomplishment would inspire other students to engage in creative research and writing, and to participate in national-level competitions. The Vice-Chancellor wished Chowdhury continued success in his academic, research, and creative endeavors.
