Dhaka University (DU) has waived tuition fees for students who were injured during the student-led July mass uprising. The decision was approved at the university syndicate's meeting on June 22 following a recommendation from the Finance Committee, according to a DU press release. The meeting was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B. M. Obaidul Islam.

The university has also undertaken month-long programmes to commemorate the second anniversary of the historic July mass uprising. Halls, faculties, departments, and institutes will organise a series of events alongside the university's central programmes.

The commemorative activities include seminars, discussion and reminiscence sessions, essay and debate competitions, cultural programmes, experience-sharing events, and the publication of souvenirs highlighting the July uprising.

The July uprising, a significant event in Bangladesh's recent history, saw widespread student protests demanding various reforms. The university's decision to waive fees for injured students and commemorate the event underscores its commitment to acknowledging the contributions and sacrifices of its students.
