# DSHE Introduces Smart Education Initiatives to Fulfill Election Pledges

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education has launched a series of initiatives aimed at upgrading the education system to digital, modern, and international standards. These initiatives align with the election pledges of the incumbent BNP government to modernize the education sector. The reforms include administrative and financial decentralization, digital automation, transparent transfer processes, and environmental initiatives.

## Digital Automation and Administrative Reform

DSHE officials have stated that administrative and financial powers have been decentralized at the director and deputy director levels to expedite services and administrative work. The Education Management Information System (EMIS) is being upgraded by migrating it to the cloud, ensuring thorough penetration testing and security audits. This will streamline processes such as issuing Monthly Payment Orders (MPO) to non-government teachers and updating the Personal Data Statement (PDS) of government teachers.

## Transparent Transfer Process and Administrative Discipline

To address the long-standing issues faced by non-government teachers, an automatic transfer process has been initiated through dynamic software. Separate software is being developed for formulating recommendations for other entry-level MPO posts. Additionally, efforts are underway to reinstate unfairly dismissed non-government teachers and provide them with due benefits. Strict legal actions are being taken against teachers with fake certificates to maintain discipline.

## Universal Monitoring and Environmental Initiatives

CCTV cameras in every school have been connected to a central server for round-the-clock supervision, enhancing security and monitoring. A five crore tree plantation program under the 'One Child, One Tree' initiative aims to boost environmental and climate adaptation. Recently, 88,000 trees were planted in 29,000 educational institutions as part of the 'Learning Acceleration in Secondary Education Project'.

Under the Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP), six new schemes have been proposed, including 'One Teacher, One Tab', expansion of scouting, development of college teachers, establishment of 'Shikshabid Institute', construction of a new DSHE Bhaban, and an integrated student welfare program. Initiatives have also been taken to rename and re-scope three schemes of the previous government to include sports, debate, cultural competitions, and free school bags.

DSHE Director General Prof Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel emphasized that these initiatives are in line with the Prime Minister's guidance and the Ministry of Education's specific plan. The goal is to ensure the quality of education and develop students as skilled and humane citizens through a modern technology-based world-class education system.
