# Deputy Speaker Bans Political Leaders from Serving on School Managing Committees

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker and Netrokona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) constituency lawmaker Barrister Kayser Kamal announced that political leaders will be prohibited from serving on school managing committees. He stressed the importance of keeping educational institutions free from political influence. 'Those who will engage in politics have union or ward committees for that purpose; there will be no place for any political leader in running a school,' he said.

Kamal made these remarks as the chief guest at a farewell reception for retired secondary-level teachers held at the Zila Parishad auditorium in Durgapur. The event was organized by the Durgapur upazila branch of the Bangladesh Teachers Association. In his speech, Kamal emphasized that the powers of managing committees should not be politically misused.

He called for creating an educational environment free from political influence and suggested including retired teachers in managing committees to utilize their experience. 'The inclusion of retired teachers can significantly benefit the committees by leveraging their vast experience and knowledge,' he noted.

Additionally, Kamal stressed the need to change society's attitude towards child protection. He believed that the country could be built by caring for society and the state as one would care for one's own family. 'A nurturing environment for children is crucial for the development of the nation,' he added.

Recalling former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's contributions to education, Kamal urged everyone to view Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's state reform outlines from above partisan interests. He highlighted the importance of bipartisan support for educational reforms to ensure their success and sustainability.

School managing committees play a vital role in the governance and administration of educational institutions in Bangladesh. These committees are responsible for overseeing various aspects of school operations, including curriculum development, teacher appointments, and financial management. By preventing political leaders from serving on these committees, the aim is to ensure that educational decisions are made based on merit and the best interests of students, rather than political affiliations.
