The 'Book Reading Programme-2026', also known as 'Boi Pora Karmosuchi-2026', officially commenced in Brahmanbaria to encourage students to develop reading habits. This initiative, launched by the district administration, seeks to create a society grounded in human values through increased reading of literature, history, and science books.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Abu Saeed launched the programme at Brahmanbaria High School, emphasizing the value of reading diverse books to enhance students' knowledge, creativity, and intellectual growth. The programme aligns with the national directive 'Read books, build the country' and is supported by the book readers' organization 'O Aa Ka Shommiloni'.

Students from various educational institutions across the district will participate in the competition, which includes reading books on Bangla literature, the Liberation War, history, science, and biographies. They will compete through written, oral, book presentation, and analysis categories. The top 15 students from each upazila will advance to the district-level competition.

Winners will receive prizes, while all participants will be awarded certificates. The programme is overseen by seven special sub-committees under the district administration to ensure its smooth implementation. This initiative underscores the importance of reading in building a knowledgeable and enlightened society, a key goal for the nation of Bangladesh.
