# Bangladesh Assures No Fuel Crisis as Diesel Stock Hits 344,000 Tonnes

*Energy ministry officials confirm the country's fuel supply chain remains stable with ample diesel stock.*

The energy ministry has assured the public that there is no fuel crisis, with diesel stock currently at 344,000 tonnes. Joint Secretary Monir Hossain Chowdhury highlighted that this stock is sufficient to meet current demand and ensure stability in the fuel supply chain.

At a press briefing, Chowdhury detailed that the existing fuel stock is enough to cover diesel needs for 31 days, octane for 36 days, petrol for 20 days, furnace oil for 25 days, and jet fuel for 20 days. He emphasized that the diesel stock is above the normal level and will ensure uninterrupted supply through July and August.

Addressing recent media reports, Chowdhury urged the public to rely on accurate information to avoid unnecessary confusion. He noted that an additional 140,000 tonnes of diesel is scheduled to arrive by July 31, with another 240,000 tonnes expected in August.

The government is working towards increasing the strategic fuel reserve to 60 days, with a long-term goal of maintaining a 90-day reserve. Despite these efforts, Bangladesh continues to face a natural gas supply deficit, with daily demand at 3,800 million cubic feet per day and supply from domestic sources and imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) at 2,700-2,800 mmcfd.

To address the gas deficit, the government is intensifying gas exploration activities and accelerating infrastructure projects, including Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs), to enhance gas supply.
