Nahid Islam, convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (JNP) and opposition chief whip, stated that economic reforms are not feasible through the current budget. He noted that while the budget shows some creative aspects such as reducing taxes on certain goods and increasing allocations for education, health, and social security, these measures are not practically implementable. Islam made these remarks while responding to journalists at the Chittagong Circuit House on Friday afternoon.

Islam highlighted that the budget fails to address critical sectors such as banking, energy, and employment. He argued that the budget deficit will force the government to take loans, reducing private sector investment and employment opportunities. He also criticized the lack of measures to curb corruption and bring mafia elements to justice.

Regarding the banking sector, Islam expressed concern over the fragile state of the banking system, particularly the Islamic Bank. He warned that if depositors withdraw their money, it could have a cascading effect on the entire economy. Islam concluded by stating that the party will continue to voice their criticisms and proposals both inside and outside the parliament.
