In a significant move towards sustainable agriculture and improved socio-economic conditions, 65 farmers in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban district received a total of 11,180 fruit and forest tree saplings today. The sapling distribution ceremony, held at the Upazila Parishad Rest House, was organized by the Bandarban Zila Parishad.

The initiative aims to provide each farmer with 172 saplings, including varieties such as mango, coffee, guava, and lemon, along with organic fertilizer. The distribution is part of a broader effort to increase farmers' incomes, strengthen nutrition security, and contribute to environmental conservation.

Saiful Islam Rimon, a Member of Bandarban Zila Parishad, attended the event as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Deputy Director of the Horticulture Center Liton Debnath and Alikadam Upazila Agriculture Officer and Administrator of Sadar Union Parishad Agriculturist Md. Sohel Rana.

Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of expanding fruit and forest tree cultivation. They emphasized that such efforts would not only enhance farmers' incomes but also play a crucial role in environmental conservation.
