The event marked the transfer of Jalil Textile Mills Limited to the Bangladesh Army, aimed at expanding the Bangladesh Ordnance Factory (BOF) and creating new employment opportunities. ## Shift Towards Technology-Based Defence Systems Muktadir highlighted the evolving global landscape of the defence industry, pointing out that the dynamics of warfare and defence capabilities are rapidly changing. He noted that recent global conflicts have underscored the necessity for a shift towards technology-based defence systems. This transition, which has been underway for the past two to three decades, demonstrates how innovation and the application of modern technology can significantly enhance a nation's military capabilities at relatively low costs. ## Government Initiatives and Industrial Revitalization The minister's remarks come as part of broader government initiatives to revitalize the industrial sector. State Minister for Textiles and Jute Md. Shariful Alam mentioned that the government is actively working to reopen previously closed industries across the country, in line with the Prime Minister's commitment to repurpose these facilities. Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, Adviser to the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Division, and General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Chief of the Bangladesh Army, also addressed the function, underscoring the collaborative efforts between various stakeholders. The agreement-signing ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and Brigadier General SM Zahid Hasan, Chairman of BTMC.
