The Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) commenced its first four-week basic Public Procurement Management (PPM) training programme on August 8 at the Engineering Staff College Bangladesh (ESCB) in Ramna, Dhaka. This training, which will run until September 1, includes 28 government officials, four of whom are women. The programme, previously three weeks long, has been extended to four weeks with additional case studies, practical sessions, and visits to procurement offices.

## Expanded Training Scope

The extended training is part of the Procurement Modernization to Improve Public Service Delivery (PMIPSD) project, supported by the World Bank. It includes expanded e-GP orientation sessions and dedicated training on the new category of physical services under the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR 2025).

## Inaugural Session Highlights

BPPA CEO Abu Sayed Md Kamruzzaman, ESCB Rector Md Ashraful Alam, and IEB Vice President (Human Resources) Engineer Shaikh Al Amin were present at the inaugural session. The CEO emphasized the importance of sustainable procurement and a clear understanding of the e-GP system, which is mandatory for all public procurement in Bangladesh.
