Water has started receding from the low-lying areas of Bhola, bringing relief to residents as the overall weather situation gradually returns to normal. The coastal district had been experiencing adverse weather conditions due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal that formed a few days ago.

## Improved Weather Conditions

Although intermittent light to moderate rainfall had continued since Sunday (July 5), precipitation decreased significantly today. However, the sky remained overcast and the weather humid. The local weather office reported that tidal water that had inundated low-lying areas has started receding.

## Affected Areas

Residents and local public representatives said water levels have begun to decline in inundated areas, including the char regions of Monpura upazila, Dhal Char, Char Kukri-Mukri, Char Patila and Kachhapia in Charfashion upazila, as well as Ilisha, Ramdaspur, Majher Char and Boraipur in Bhola Sadar and Madanpur, Hajipur and Char Niamatpur in Daulatkhan upazila.

## Cautionary Signals and Monitoring

Meanwhile, Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 remains in force at the country's seaports, but the water level of the Meghna River in Bhola has returned to normal. Bhola Weather Office official Moniruzzaman told BSS that Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 had been issued for the seaports due to the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.

## Resumption of Services

Assistant Director of the BIWTA Bhola River Port Nirmal Kumar Roy told BSS that launch services suspended on several river routes due to adverse weather had resumed from today in the interest of passenger safety. He said ferry and passenger launch services on the Bhola-Ilisha-Lakshmipur-Dhaka river route have also been partially restored to normal.

## Impact on Fisheries and Monitoring

The adverse weather also affected the fisheries sector. Bhola Deputy Commissioner Dr Shamim Rahman told the media that upazila executive officers had been instructed to closely monitor the overall disaster situation. He said the district administration and the relevant departments are continuing to monitor the situation and that fresh cautionary instructions will be issued to river transport users and vessel operators if weather conditions deteriorate.

## Current Situation

As of filing this report at around 6:00 pm, light drizzle was continuing in different upazilas of the district. Although weather conditions have improved, the sky remains cloudy and the situation is being monitored.
