Two sleeping children were killed in a landslide in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar early on Thursday. The incident occurred in the early hours at Mohsenia Kata Pahari village under Ward No. 7 of Baraitali Union in the upazila.

## Incident Details

One of the deceased has been identified as Rumi Akter, 15, daughter of Mohammad Kajal of Mohsenia Kata village and a Class ten student of Baraitali Dakhil Madrasa. The other victim was Mohammad Tausif, 10, son of Abdul Majid and a Class four student of the local government primary school.

## Local Response

Baraitali Union Parishad Chairman Mohammad Chhalekuzzaman noted that several villages had remained inundated for the last two days, making the deaths of the two children particularly tragic. Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shaheen Delwar confirmed the deaths caused by the landslide.

## Rising Death Toll

With this latest incident, the death toll from landslides in Cox's Bazar over the past four days has risen to 17. Of these, 13 were Rohingyas who died in the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya.
