Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today warned of taking stern action if any irregularity is found in the distribution of family cards. Speaking at a tree plantation programme in Barishal, he emphasized that there is no room for any broker or middleman in the distribution process. "If the allegations of irregularities are proved, strict action will be taken against those involved," he stated.

## Commitment to Transparency

The minister reiterated that no middleman or broker can be involved in the distribution of family cards. This announcement comes as part of a broader effort to ensure transparency and efficiency in public services. The distribution of family cards is a critical process, as these cards are essential for accessing various government benefits and services.

## Environmental Initiative

Earlier in the day, Swapon inaugurated a tree plantation programme on both banks of the Swanirbhar Canal in Gournadi. This initiative is part of a larger environmental protection drive. The canal-digging programme was originally launched by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at Kutubpur in Gournadi. During the event, the minister called upon all participants to come forward to protect the environment through tree plantation.

The tree plantation programme saw the participation of various local leaders and activists, including Krishak Dal Member Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Barishal District BNP General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Khan Mukul, and other prominent figures. The guests planted saplings of different species on both banks of the canal, reinforcing the commitment to environmental conservation.
