State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, announced the establishment of a modern meat processing center in Rajshahi. The center aims to ensure safe food for the people by implementing strict health and quality control measures. Tuku made the announcement during a stakeholder consultation meeting on the construction of a modern slaughterhouse held at the City Hallroom of the Annex Building of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

## Health and Quality Control Measures

At the proposed modern meat processing center, the health of animals will be examined by a veterinarian before slaughter. Animals will be slaughtered using the halal method in the presence of an imam, adhering to religious provisions. Additionally, meat quality will be controlled in a modern lab to ensure high standards.

## Modern Waste Management and By-product Utilization

The center will follow modern waste management methods to ensure no part of the animal is wasted. Initiatives will be taken to produce biogas and organic fertilizer from cow dung, contributing to environmental sustainability and earning foreign currency through the export of animal by-products.

## Significance for Rajshahi and the Nation

Rajshahi is renowned for its agro-industry, silk, and mango production. The district currently ranks second in the country in fish production and is known for its cleanliness. The establishment of the modern meat processing center is expected to enhance Rajshahi's reputation as a modern and ideal city while preserving its heritage and prosperity.

## Government's Commitment to Public Welfare

Highlighting the government's various development activities, Tuku emphasized the implementation of public welfare measures such as family cards, farmer cards, increased allowances for imams and muezzins, and the distribution of educational materials to students. The event was presided over by RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, with several other dignitaries in attendance.
