Shuvo Mahmud, a student from Chittagong University's Bangla Department, has lost his right eye due to gunfire during the July mass uprising. Despite this, his determination remains unshaken. Shuvo, who hails from Lakshmipur, was shot in the eye while participating in the movement in Muradpur. Although two surgeries were performed, the eye could not be saved. Yet, Shuvo hopes to regain sight one day and is currently receiving follow-up treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

The traumatic event has left Shuvo with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicidal thoughts, for which he received counseling. Despite these challenges, his friends and teachers have supported him, allowing him to sit for examinations with a scribe. Shuvo's dream of becoming a police officer has shifted to becoming a teacher, aiming to guide future police officers and steer students away from political wrongdoing. He advocates for merit-based rehabilitation rather than special quotas.
