Shimla Park in Rajshahi district has been declared a Special Biodiversity Conservation Area by the 41st meeting of the Wildlife Advisory Council of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. This move aims to protect the rich biodiversity of the area, which includes over 200 species of birds, 20 species of mammals, 24 species of reptiles, and 13 species of amphibians. The conservation area will cover about 17 acres, extending from the BGB camp adjacent part of Shimla Park to the city protection embankment near the Deputy Commissioner's bungalow.
